We're still missing an astronaut (and a teacher) so expect an updated version of this later in the week. Check out Oisíns wonderful logo for Space Week 2019.
Our Legoi Saturn V Rocket was finally finished on Friday. There were 1969 pieces to be assembled and it went right down to the wire on Friday before it was finished. We'll have more photos later in the week.
We had some of the other classes visit us during the week to see the work we have been getting up to for Space Week. This week we were delighted to be invited to see the work done in Third Class for Space Week. We saw some amazing projects created by the children.
We finally have our Lunar Habitats ready. They were also used this week for on of the Maths Week Challenges. Huge congratulations to Joe, Ron and Mahmoud who won Maths Week awards for their habitats.
We had a lot of fun this week using Augmented Reality. It allowed us to visit the Moon and land spacecraft. Augmented reality users the iPad camera to place an object in the classroom. As we move the camera around we can look at objects from all angles. For the Moon we went to the Halla as we needed to be able to walk around more. Some of the children even took it to the yard and really got to walk around exploring even further. The video gives you an idea of how we opened a Portal to the Moon. More of this in them months to come I think.
5A visit the Moon from Cormac Cahill on Vimeo.
Two of the boys created an Out Of This World Comic telling the story of the Apollo 13 Mission to the Moon.
The Eagles have landed. More or less upright. We also have an amazing Lunar Lander made of Lego by Zac.
